武汉同济医科大学在中国农村地区建立传染病整

Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is a national key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education of P. R. China, and is among the first Universities joining in the national “211 Project” and “985 Project”. At present, the University has eleven disciplines: engineering, medicine, management, science, philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history and agriculture. HUST adhere to an open mind on the management of university and keep good relationship with more than 100 universities in 26 countries in the world.  

The history of the School of Public Health can be ascended to the early year of 1907 when Dr. Erich Paulun from Germany established the Shanghai German Medical College. In the wave of the merge of major academics in China in May of 2000, and the Public Health College was renamed as the “School of Public Health of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.” The School of Public Health has 6 departments, which are respectively Occupational and Environmental Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Nutrition and Food Health, Maternal and Childhood Health, Social Medicine, and Toxicology.   

The department of epidemiology and health statistics was founded by merging originally Division of Epidemiology with Division of Biostatistics. Currently, the department has 29 staff, including 6 professors, 6 associate professors. The department is mainly engaged in research field of epidemiology of infectious diseases and chronic diseases, prognosis and precaution of major diseases, molecular epidemiology, behavior, environment and health, exploratory development of statistical method etc.

华中科技大学是国家教育部直属的全国重点大学，是首批列入国家“211工程”和国家“985工程”重点建设高校之一。学校现拥有哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、农学、医学、管理学等11大学科门类。学校坚持开放式办学理念，积极开展国际交流与合作，已与世界上26个国家和地区的100多所大学建立了良好的校际交流关系。

华中科技大学公共卫生学院的历史可溯源至上个世纪1907年宝隆博士创办上海德文医学堂时。2000年5月高校合并，更名为华中科技大学同济医学院公共卫生学院。公共卫生学院现有6个系：劳动卫生与环境卫生学系、流行病学与卫生统计学系、营养与食品卫生学系、儿少卫生与妇幼保健学系、社会医学系、卫生毒理学系.

流行病与卫生统计学系由原流行病学教研室和卫生统计学教研室于2001年8月组建而成的。现有在职人员29名，其中教授6名，副教授6名，科研方向主要有传染病流行病学、慢性流行病学、重大疾病预测预警研究、分子流行病学、行为、环境与健康，统计方法应用研究等。
